Here you will find links to the Internet's Most Popular Search Engines. Submitting to search engines is a time consuming process. There are many Search Engine Submission Services that will submit your your site to 100's of search engines and directories using one simple form. However, in order to achieve better results, I would suggest that you manually submit your URL to the major search engines. I have tried to simplify this process by providing you with the "ADD URL" links for each of the major search engines.

The following engines are the most important Search Engines to be listed with on the web. Just enter your url and your email address if required in the form and hit submit. You'll need to hit your back button on your browser to return to this page to continue submitting.

Altavista is perhaps the friendliest search engine for getting your page listed. Pages are easy to submit and show up quickly, usually within a day or two. Altavista supports META tags. Average submission time is 1-3 days

Excite, at the present time does not support META tags. Average submission time is 2-4 weeks.

HotBot supports both the keywords and discription META tags. Average submission is 2-4 weeks.

Infoseek supports both the keywords and discription META tags. Infoseek also supports the ALT attribute in the IMG tag. Average submission time is 1-3 days.

Lycos, ceates Web site titles and descriptions from the text of your Web page. META tags are only partially supported. Average submission time is 1-3 weeks.

WebCrawler supports META tags. It relies on the statement within the Title tag to use for the name of your Web page. Average submission time is 3-4 weeks

AOL NetFind also supports the use of META tags. Average submission time is 2-4 weeks

Yahoo! is the best and best known search engine on the Web. Actually it's really a directory rather than a search engine. Submissions are reviewed by an actual person who decides if your page should be included in their database. If you get listed on Yahoo! you will definitely gain traffic to your site. Yahoo! is one of the most difficult submission forms to successfully complete. Below I have listed some basic steps to follow to help simplify your submission to their directory.

Find your Yahoo! category.
From the main page locate up to Yahoo! categories that best describe your Web site. Find an appropriate sub-categary. Scroll down the categories and find other sites listed that are similar to your own, or find a direct competitor.

Yahoo requires commercial sites to be placed within a Business and Economy sub-category either under Companies ir Products and Services.

Click the Suggest A Site Link At The Bottom Of The Screen
Once you have narrowed down your category and sub-catergories you wish to have your site placed in, click the Suggest a Hyperlink at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the submission form within the categories you have selected.

Fill Out The ADD URL Form.
Yahoo does not allow you to suggest keywords in their submission form. It will use the Title and Description fields to derive search words for your site. Think carefully what keywords you want Yahoo! to list you under and construct your Title and Description fields with these keywords. Your Title should not exceed 50 characters (including spacing). And your description should not exceed 20 words or 200 characters (including spacing).

Click The Submit Button
Once you have completed the submit form, click the submit button. If you have filled out the submit form correctly, Yahoo! will display a scren that Thanks you for your submission. If Yahoo! has found errors in your submission form, Yahoo! will display a screen informing you that your submission failed and the reasons for the failure. Press the back key on your browser and make the necessary changes and resubmitt.

Check You Listing
Wait about 2 weeks then do a search for your URL. If your site is not listed, then resubmit your entry using the ADD URL function in Yahoo!.
